Roulette Rules
The first forms of this legendary table game were invented and played in the 18th century. Since then the roulette has paved its way up the ladder and gained huge popularity among casino players. It is a very simple game whose outcome depends mostly on luck.
Even though there are a couple of roulette variations, they all have generally similar rules that apply to all of them. However, certain variations change the house edge that can vary from 1.35% to 5.26%.
Planning a good game strategy depends on your knowledge of the roulette rules. If you want to learn more about the basic rules and exceptions, you should proceed with reading this text.
Basic Guidelines
Roulette is a game that consists of a layout and a spinning wheel. Sometimes the wheel is next to the layout, while sometimes it is set between two layouts. In the Bitcoin casinos the wheel is usually next to the layout, no matter if the game is American, French, European or Common Draw Roulette.
First, the players place their bets on the layout. After the bets are placed, a little ball is set spinning in the opposite direction of the spinning wheel. As the wheel starts to slow down, the ball eventually falls into one of the patches. Depending on the number and the colour of the patch the winning combination is known.
Losing bets are removed from the table, while the winning ones are left to be placed as bets in the next gaming session. The player can also remove the winning bets and place completely new ones.
Payouts
The payouts are maybe the most important part of the roulette. Knowing how much a certain bet will earn you is essential for planning the game and its possible outcomes. These are the payouts for all of the betting combinations:
- red/ black/ odd/ even/ 1-18/ 19-36 pays 1 to 1
- 1-12/ 13-24/ 25-36 pays 2 to 1
- line of six numbers pays 5 to 1
- first five numbers pay 6 to 1
- corner bet pays 8 to 1
- street of three numbers pays 11 to 1
- betting on two neighboring numbers (split) pays 17 to 1
- single number bet pay 35 to 1
Different Variations
As was stated before, roulette as a game has several forms. They all have small modifications which make them unique for those who are really into playing roulette. The spinning wheel is always there; however the changes are incorporated into the game rules and the layouts.
European Roulette
European Roulette, also known as a single zero roulette, has a 36 number layout + the green zero. The house edge of 2.70% makes it better than the American version of the game. There are no specific modifications when it comes to the rules.
French Roulette
This is considered to be the most favourable roulette variation to the players. Unlike the European Roulette rules, where players lose their bets if the ball lands on the zero, French Roulette returns 50% of the betting amount. For example, if somebody wagered 0.1 BTC on Red and the winning number turns out to be the zero, the player will get 0.05 BTC back instead of losing them all.
American Roulette
The American Roulette, besides the basic 1-36 numbers and the single zero, has another double zero field. Because of this additional number the house edge is set at 5.26% and American Roulette is less recommendable than the European or French one.
Mini Roulette
The name here says it all. Mini Roulette is a mini version of the single zero layout. There are only 12 numbers (1-12), plus the green zero.
Betting Limits
The betting limits are usually regulations set by the casino at which you decide to test your roulette skills. In order to protect themselves and their customers, online casinos provide a chart with minimum and maximum bet amounts.
For example, certain roulette tables will not allow you to bet less than a 0.001 BTC or more than 4 BTC. Of course, different casinos set different limits. When it comes to high roller tables the limits are generally higher or nonexistent at all.
